Ken Livingstone, London Mayor, who then withdrew them from service in December 2005. So, it’s all thanks to Ken that we are lucky enough to own a Routemaster. However, our true thanks go out to all those that have helped in putting this old bus back out on the road. |

What sort of bus is it?
‘Rodney’ is a 1960 Routemaster (RM 191) |

How much does it cost to hire the bus?
Obviously the cost will vary depending on a number of factors including how far the bus will travel, the duration of the hire and any special requests that you might have. There is a minimum charge which covers a four hour local hire from base to base. This is currently £420. |

How many passengers can you carry?
We can carry a total of 42 passengers. 22 seated at tables on the upper deck and 20 seated on the lower deck of which 12 are seated at tables. |

Can we take alcohol on board the bus?
Yes, we do allow alcohol on board but this must be agreed at the time of booking. We want you to have a good time but safety of our passengers, staff and vehicle is paramount so the following rules will be applied:
- The quantity of alcohol brought on board should be appropriate for the number of passengers and the type of hire undertaken. Although common sense will prevail, the conductor will decide what is appropriate.
- We can and will provide plastic glasses. No glass bottles or drinking vessels are allowed on the bus.
- Only alcohol brought on to the bus at the time of the hire can be consumed on the bus. No more alcohol will be allowed after that.
- The hirer is responsible for providing any alcoholic drinks. We have sufficient fridge capacity on both decks to keep your drinks cool.
- The law prohibits the carriage and drinking of alcohol on route to some designated sporting events. Please check with us when booking a sport related hire.

What about a Champagne toast on board?
This isn’t a problem; just let us know before hand what you’re planning. We will even supply the plastic flutes for your toast. |

Can we have our names on the front of the bus?
Personalised destination blinds are a popular choice for weddings, birthdays and other special occasions and look great on the day. They also make a great souvenir to remember your special day. We need about 3 - 4 weeks notice for manufacture. |

Can we decorate the bus?
White ribbons adorning the front of the bus and a ‘wedding special’ destination blind are standard for wedding hires. For other events, or if you would like more elaborate wedding decoration, please discuss it with us at the time of booking. We can organise it or arrange to arrive at the pick up point early so that you can decorate the bus yourself. |

Why do we need a host/conductor?
His/her primary role is to ensure the safety of the passengers and vehicle. The bus has an open platform at the rear of the vehicle. That is why moving between the upper and lower decks or standing on the open platform is strictly prohibited and will result in eviction from the bus. It is also an insurance requirement and as such cannot operate legally without this person. The conductor is also there to ensure you have a good time! |

How far can we take the bus?
The Routemaster was designed for moving people around large cities and urban areas. Although, it is fully capable of covering long distances, with a cruising speed of around 40mph it’s not the best vehicle for long haul travel. We would suggest a maximum journey time each way of about two hours. |
